Welcome to the Edmonton Revenue Property Investors Monthly Newsletter

It's time again and the monthly association meeting of our group has arrived. For those of you new to this e-mailing here are the particulars.

Once a month on the second Tuesday of each month a like-minded group of real estate investors meet on the second floor at Rosie’s Restaurant. Located at the corner of 105 St. and 80 Ave.  Arrivals at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7:00 pm. You are cordially being invited to attend. Attendees are required to pay $5 at the door. There is no annual membership charge yet. All attendees and visitors are asked to buy $5 worth of food to support the use of Rosie’s Restaurant 2nd floor meeting room, and please generously tip your server, this helps to support our free use of the meeting room. Please bring a few of your used real estate or self help books that you no longer require to donate to our library or door prizes.  If you park to the east of Rosie’s in the strip mall parking lot, please pick up a free parking pass from the bar to put on your windshield.

Each meeting is different as we may bring in special guest speakers for each meeting. Each speaker is uniquely qualified in his or her own specific field of expertise. Even a seasoned investor will be pleasantly surprised with the knowledge gained from attending our meetings. We encourage all attendees to participate at the meetings by asking our speakers your pertinent questions. We need and appreciate your input at all meetings. Like-minded investors can and do learn and help each other to achieve success.

We really do look forward to seeing you and please bring a friend to our next meeting. If you have a friend that you feel would like to be put on our e-mail list send their e-mail to me.

Our guest speaker this month will be:

Carolyn Pratt – Edmonton Real Estate Board President (2007)

2006 was the most remarkable year for real estate pricing of any market in Canada. As some American Housing Markets suffer, the unique Edmonton market continues to soar. The President of the Edmonton Real Estate Board, Carolyn Pratt, will present a recap of the 2006 market and her predictions for 2007. She will update the forecast based on the experience of the first quarter of 2007.

Carolyn Pratt has been a REALTOR® since 1976 and has worked through decades of change in the industry. As a residential real estate specialist she has embraced technological changes and adapted her skills to an evolving marketplace. However, her commitment to ethics and customer service has never wavered.

Building on an Arts degree from the University of Manitoba, Carolyn has parlayed her people skills into a successful career. She has been awarded the EREB Medallion Sales Achievement Award and was made a life member of the Edmonton Real Estate Board in 2003. Her skills have also been recognized with awards from her brokerage.

She served as President of the Edmonton REALTORS® Charitable Foundation in 2000 and was elected to the EREB Board of Directors in 2002. She has served on various committees including Arbitration and Professional Standards, Member Services, Awards, Political Action and the Audit Committee. Carolyn has also contributed to the quality of life in the community through involvement in service clubs, political organizations and her condominium.

Carolyn’s has two adult children who are pursuing careers in the medical profession.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR LAST MEETING Edmonton Revenue Property Investors Association

The meeting was held upstairs in Rosie’s south side bar & grill on March 13, 2007.  Les opened the meeting at 7:20 p.m. with a full house 66 in attendance. The introduction of guests followed. Lillian gave the treasurers report followed by the reading of the minutes. Les gave us the current market update as well of ways to find sellers of real estate. Les, How are things going? Don’t know if you remember me, I am the Pastor, Chad from Edmontonre. I have wanted to come to the meetings but I have meetings/rehearsals within my church almost every Tuesday evening.  I am trying to work it out so I can come to one at least, I really enjoyed it the last time. Things are going well, I have bought and sold some contracts this year, but I am looking into buying and holding and also some apartment/fourplexes, etc. Wondering if I can throw some properties I am looking at your way to get your advice and thoughts. I would even like to go for coffee sometime and get your thoughts, would you be available for this. I also, even though I can’t come to the meetings very much would like to get to you some books to give away.  I would still like to participate somehow with this.
Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.
Chad
